"The idea to start the business was born in me a year and a half ago, and we're making it accessible, easy, and affordable," says Eran Spiegel, owner of Yoozit. "I'm currently serving in reserve duty, and the business has been completely devastated. I haven't received a single shekel."
Eran Spiegel from Tel Mond is the owner of a new business, launched three months ago, that markets reusable products. The goal is to encourage a shift from single-use to reusable products, such as kitchenware, beauty and personal care items, and camping gear. Spiegel says, "The idea to start the business was born in me a year and a half ago, and we're making it accessible, easy, and affordable. We've selected only the highest quality items. For example, a high-quality stainless steel water bottle that keeps drinks hot or cold for 24 hours."
Since October 15th, Eran has been serving in the reserves, in the Commando Brigade. "It's a business I believed in from the moment the idea was born, and then the war stopped everything. I'm the only employee in the business because I was advised to be the sole employee at the beginning and to receive minimum wage. Now it's hitting me hard with the reserve duty calculations and all the government's calculations for a new business. I can't show a decrease in income compared to last year because the business didn't exist. If I rewind the clock to when I was a salaried employee with a high salary, I wouldn't find myself in this predicament now while fighting."
According to Spiegel, "In the last three months, there was a great sales cycle that just kept growing until everything stopped. The damage now is one hundred percent because there is no income as long as I'm on reserve duty. The only thing that came to meet me was Bank Hapoalim, which postponed the repayment of the loan I took out to start the business. The state hasn't given anything, and it needs to take care of its reserve soldiers, wherever they are, and especially business owners, to be free from any financial worries for their families. Let us fight with peace of mind. Instead, I have calls from the reserves with my accountant to submit a request for reserve duty compensation, but so far, not a single shekel has come in."
What's next? "I've recruited my family to give the business a push and to respond to anyone who enters the website and places an order. There is a 20% discount on all products on the Yoozit website."
