Elite Soldier on a Mission to Save the Planet

Yooz is a fresh new project by Eran Spiegel, who believes that we need to reduce pollution in the world and consume smarter.

Eran Spiegel, a 47-year-old married father of three from Tel Mond, may be currently stationed at a military base in southern Israel, but his attention is also focused on the new business he founded with his own hands just a few months ago. On the website called yooz (a play on the word "use"), he offers a variety of useful and beautiful items that are also eco-friendly.

Spiegel is a reservist in Maglan, the Israeli commando unit, and has been stationed in one of the bases in the Gaza envelope area since almost the beginning of the conflict, but for years he has been researching the impact of human consumption on the Earth and the environment. After 20 years working for large companies in the supply chain, logistics and sales, he quit and decided to set up a small, independent business with added value.

"On a family trip in a caravan in the United States, the penny dropped for me on the whole sustainability issue," he says. "I started to understand that the world is moving forward and we in Israel are far behind in terms of the products we buy for the home. I decided to set up a business that would sell quality products that meet all the standards, that will last for years - and that will also be beautifully designed and aesthetically pleasing and, of course, eco-friendly."

Spiegel began experimenting and researching different products for the home, travel, camping, grooming, children and toddlers, and decided to focus on objects and tools made mainly from three materials: bamboo, stainless steel and silicone. For all of them, he turned to premium manufacturers who produce the highest quality products in their field, products that pollute the environment less in the production process and, above all, products that will last for years for customers, which will reduce purchasing, waste and pollution to the environment.

"I felt we had to abandon the disposable and move to the reusable, but not to cheap plastic that wears out and breaks down quickly. Replacing plastic with plastic is not the goal. I was looking for products that have quality properties, such as keeping warm and cold, scratch resistance and so on," says Spiegel. "Our products do not contain any hazardous or harmful substances to humans, with an emphasis on products that come into contact with our food and drink, such as lunch boxes and bottles. You can order products from cheap websites, but there is no real control over the amount of harmful and toxic substances they contain, such as lead."

He adds: "I didn't cut corners. Not in terms of standards and not in terms of appearance. All the products are designed and characterized by ecological savings. It's nice to serve with them, go camping, take them to school or work, and along the way do good for the environment. I want to sell a product that people will love and be proud to display in their home, serve to guests or bring on a trip."

The colors are beautiful, the materials are pleasant and the prices are affordable and accessible. Among the products you can find bamboo toothbrushes, stainless steel and silicone water bottles in a variety of designs (including collapsible bottles), divided lunch boxes in different sizes, food freshness bags, reusable straws, thermos cups, serving bowls, stainless steel tableware for travel and picnics, children's tableware in shapes, and more.

Yooz is a great example of how individuals can make a difference in the fight against climate change. By choosing to buy eco-friendly products, we can all help to reduce our environmental impact.
